Church & Community Ministries (CCM)
Meeting Physical and Spiritual Needs in Jesus’ Name
The mission of Church and Community Ministries is to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ by addressing both spiritual and physical needs. CCM provides clothing, household goods, and furniture to families impacted by fires, domestic abuse, or financial hardship.
We also operate a public thrift shop, known as The CCM Hut, located at:
📍 1200 Industry Drive, Oxford, NC 27565

Toy Store Ministry
Sharing the Joy of Christmas
Every December, CCM and Flat River churches host a Toy Store to bless local families in need. In 2024, the Toy Store provided gifts to 260 children, ensuring they woke up with joy on Christmas morning.
Families apply to participate, and local pastors share the gospel with parents while volunteers assist them in selecting toys and gifts. Preparation includes:
- Stocking the shelves with toys
- Assembling stockings
- Creating school supply kits
- Preparing gift wrap packets
This ministry offers both practical help and a spiritual message of hope.
Appalachian Backpacks Ministry
Blessing Families in the Appalachian Coalfields
Each year, Flat River churches join efforts to collect backpacks for families in the Appalachian region. Backpacks are filled with:
- Clothing
- Canned food
- Hygiene items
- Candy
- A Bible
In 2024, North Carolina churches gave a total of 23,307 backpacks—a powerful display of love and compassion for those in need.
Operation Christmas Child
A Global Mission with a Local Heart
Flat River churches support Samaritan’s Purse by filling shoeboxes with gifts and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with children across the world. Hundreds of boxes are collected and sent annually, reaching children who may have never before received a gift.
Serve NC
Serving Our Communities Through Local Projects
Serve NC is a statewide initiative organized by North Carolina Baptists and Baptists on Mission, encouraging churches to serve their own communities. Each church identifies and completes a local project such as:
- Painting a school
- Cleaning a yard
- Serving meals to the hungry
Through acts of service, churches not only meet physical needs but also reflect the love of Christ in practical ways.
